One of the most neglected areas where cleaning the kitchen is concerned is behind the refrigerator. It is important to remember that behind and under the refrigerator is a magnet for germs, dust and moisture, all of which are a recipe for bacteria. However, there is a proper way on how to move a refrigerator in order to clean behind it.
First, the most important thing is to determine how much slack you have in the water line if you have a water dispenser and automatic ice maker. In some cases you may be able to get the space you need without disconnecting the line, but if this is not the case simply make certain the water flow is turned off and disconnect the line.
Make certain to remove everything from the top of the fridge, you don’t want to get hit on the head with a glass cookie jar while your cleaning. Once you have accomplished these two tasks then simply “walk” the refrigerator (unless its on wheels) or slide it out in order to get behind it. Now all you need do is clean under it thoroughly and be certain to clean the coils as well. Then simply hook the water line back up and push your fridge back in place.
